State, Chelsea Police Probing Woman’s Death

State Police homicide detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office and Chelsea Police detectives are investigating the death of a woman outside a Chelsea residence.

The woman’s body was discovered by a passerby shortly after 6:00 this morning in a driveway adjacent to 123 Maverick St. An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to determine the cause and manner of her death.

The woman has been tentatively identified as a 50-year-old Chelsea resident. Her name is not being released pending confirmation of her identity and notifications to her next of kin. The investigation is active and no arrests have been made at this time.

State Police assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office investigate all unattended deaths in Chelsea. They are assisted by members of the Chelsea Police Department and, if necessary, other specialized State Police units.
