State Police Investigating Southie Shooting

State Police homicide detectives assigned to Suffolk County District attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office are investigating a shooting that left a man near death late last night.

The victim has been identified as a 41-year-old South Boston man. His name is being withheld at this time. As of early this morning he was in critical condition at Boston Medical Center.

State Police assigned to Troop H and Boston Police responded to shots fired in the area of William Day Boulevard and M Street at about 11:30 p.m. On arrival, they located the victim on the beach suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. In light of the serious nature of his injuries, the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit was notified and also responded to lead the investigation.

State Police assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office have jurisdiction over death investigations on state property within the City of Boston. They are assisted in this case by uniformed patrols and detectives from Troop H, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and other specialized State Police units.
