State Police detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash early this morning on Storrow Drive in Boston.

Detectives responded at about 1:20 this morning to the westbound portion of the roadway near the Bowker Overpass, where two men were ejected from a GMC Sierra. The passenger in that vehicle, a 22-year-old Needham man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator, also 22 of Needham, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit with life-threatening injuries.

The State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section also responded to assist in the investigation, which remains active.

No charges have been brought at this time and the deceased is not being identified pending notifications to his family.
