STATE, REVERE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATALITY OFF ROUTE 107

Revere Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office are investigating the death of a 61-year-old Peabody woman who died in a motor vehicle that veered into the water off Route 107 in Revere this morning.

The woman has been identified as Anna Perkowski. Perkowski was driving a 2007 Lexus southbound at about 7:30 this morning when the vehicle lost its right rear wheel; as she tried to pull into a nearby parking lot, she apparently lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a guardrail and landed in Diamond Creek, also known as Revere Creek.

Passersby were able to pull the vehicle’s passenger, a 58-year-old female, to safety. Revere, Cambridge, and State Police dive teams responded to the scene and located the vehicle submerged upside down in the water; Perkowski was pulled from the car, brought to shore, and pronounced dead shortly after 10:15 a.m.

Revere and State Police investigators were assisted by members of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been brought at this time.
