Statement of Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley on the Decision on a Defense Motion for a Change of Venue in the Trial of Dwayne Moore

BOSTON, Oct. 5, 2012—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today delivered the following statement on Suffolk County Regional Administrative Justice Jeffrey Locke’s decision on a defense motion for a change of venue in the trial of DWAYNE MOORE for the murders of four people and the near-fatal shooting of a fifth on Woolson Street in Mattapan two years ago.  Locke today determined that a panel of Worcester County jurors would be transported to Boston daily to hear the case and weigh the evidence.

“We have great confidence in the ability of the citizens of Suffolk County to fairly decide this case and we made this clear to the court in our opposition.  Clearly, Judge Locke gave this great thought and consideration and we respect his decision. We also appreciate the concern Judge Locke showed for the Mattapan community and the victim’s families, who would have been hard pressed to attend a lengthy trial in another jurisdiction.”
