Statement of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley on the Appointment of William Evans as Boston Police Commissioner

BOSTON, Jan. 8, 2014—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today delivered the following statement on Mayor Martin Walsh’s appointment of William Evans to the position of Boston Police Commissioner:

“I commend Mayor Walsh for his decision to name William Evans as Boston’s police commissioner.  He’s an excellent choice and represents the very best of a department that respects his experience and leadership.  As a prosecutor, I’ve seen his commitment to careful, thorough investigations that continue well after an arrest is made.  But even more than this, he’s earned the trust and partnership of countless people outside the law enforcement community.  I look forward to working closely with him in the weeks and months to come.”
