SUFFOLK PROSECUTOR TO PLAY IN HAITI BENEFIT CONCERT

A Suffolk County prosecutor who by day works in District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s Appellate Unit, and by night plays in a symphony orchestra as an accomplished violinist, will be participating in a benefit concert for Haiti earthquake victims.

Assistant District Attorney Helle Sachse first joined Conley’s office in 2006, after working as a law clerk for the Massachusetts Appeals Court. A highly skilled attorney, Sachse is a 2004 graduate of Boston College Law School. She joined the Boston-based Longwood Symphony Orchestra in 1994.

On Sunday, Jan. 31, the Longwood Symphony Orchestra and the New England Conservatory will join together in the NEC’s Jordan Hall to perform Albert Schweitzer Portrait by American composer Gene Scheer.

The entirety of every $25 ticket purchased to attend the concert, entitled Symphonic Relief for Haiti, will be donated to the Partners in Health’s “Stand By Haiti” initiative. Partners In Health is a non-profit Boston-based health care organization formed in 1987, that works with poor communities in nine countries to provide them with modern medical health care. Partners in Health has been actively providing health services to the people in Haiti for the past 20 years, and has partnered with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra and the New England Conservatory to raise money to support their aid efforts to millions of Haitians who were affected by a devastating January 12 earthquake.

The goals of Symphonic Relief for Haiti are to raise $250,000 to help fund Partners in Health’s “Stand By Haiti” initiative, to honor the men and women who are volunteering their time and expertise in Haiti, and to stand in solidarity with the local Haitian community. The concert will be performed at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall on Jan. 31 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
