BOSTON, May 2, 2013—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley has assigned a seasoned prosecutor to the investigation of a fire in Allston that claimed the life of a young woman this weekend.

Conley named Assistant District Attorney David Bradley to oversee the death investigation arising out of a fire that broke out at 87 Linden St. on the morning of April 28. Currently assigned to the DA’s Senior Trial Unit, Bradley once served as the office’s arson point prosecutor. As with all death investigations in the City of Boston, the assigned prosecutor is working with Boston Police detectives.

“We investigate every unattended death to determine whether charges are warranted against any person in any capacity,” Conley said. “This case is no exception. We’re not prejudging the case and the probe is in its very early stages. We’ll follow the evidence wherever it leads, and we’ll apply the law fairly to the facts before we make a charging decision.”

Boston Police and Boston Fire personnel responded to the scene at about 6:30 Sunday morning. In the aftermath of the blaze, the remains of an adult female were located within the structure; the investigation into circumstances surrounding her death will go beyond the investigation into cause and origin of the fire, which the joint Fire Investigations Unit found to be careless disposal of smoking material.
