Suspect in Custody For Woman’s Fairlawn Ave Slaying

A Roxbury man is under arrest this morning for the homicide of Rosanna Camilo in her Fairlawn Avenue apartment last month, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

ELDRICK D. BROOM (D.O.B. 4/7/84) faces arraignment on a murder charge today in Dorchester District Court. Boston Police homicide detectives took Broom into custody last night amid the ongoing investigation into Camilo’s death.

Camilo, 34, was found deceased in the bedroom of her apartment at 50 Fairlawn St. on the afternoon of Nov. 21. Family members who found her remains called Boston Police and emergency medical technicians, who pronounced her dead at the scene. The mother of three, who had travelled to Boston from the Dominican Republic to seek medical care for a young child, had been strangled and sexually assaulted.

Authorities say Broom had access to the victim’s apartment building through an associate who lived there until shortly before Camilo’s death.

The investigation into Camilo’s homicide remains very active, Davis and Conley said. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
