Suspect to Face Arraignment for Beating Death of Man, 50

BOSTON, April 30, 2012—Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today announced that a suspect is expected in court this afternoon for the February beating death of 50-year-old Roosevelt Harris in his Roxbury apartment.

CRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ (D.O.B. 7/19/76), who was a neighbor in Harris’ Tremont Street apartment building, faces a murder charge in connection with the older man’s death. He is expected in the arraignment session of Roxbury District Court today at 2:00 p.m.

Boston Police responded to 1049 Tremont St. at about 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 to find Harris with fatal blunt force trauma injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodriguez was identified as a suspect as a result of extensive interviews, eyewitness statements, and other evidence developed in the ongoing probe. A warrant charging him with Harris’ homicide was approved on March 7, while he was in custody for an unrelated offense in Bedford. He has been held in a secure facility since that time.
