BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2017—The man who allegedly drove Kevin Reyes’ killers to and from the scene was arraigned today, making him the third person charged in the case, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

CALVIN MURPHY-PETERSON (D.O.B. 1/20/95) of Norwood was arraigned on a murder charge today in the Boston Municipal Court. At the request of Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Hickman, Judge Sally Kelly ordered him held without bail.

Murphy-Peterson is accused of joining RICARDO EDWARDS (D.O.B. 2/14/94) of Roxbury and GREG WRIGHT (D.O.B. 12/16/95) of Cambridge to take part in Reyes’ homicide in Chinatown during the early morning hours of May 27.

Based on video footage, phone records, and other evidence, investigators believe that Reyes had stepped out of a Hudson Street residence when Murphy-Peterson drove up with Edwards and Wright in his vehicle at about 2:30 am. Prosecutors say Edwards got out of the car, retrieved something from the trunk, and walked up to Reyes near the side of the building. Wright also exited the car and watched in their direction. Edwards allegedly shot Reyes, he and Wright got back into the car, and Murphy-Peterson drove away from the scene.

Reyes suffered fatal injuries and died at Tufts Medical Center.

Edwards and Wright were identified in the days following the homicide. Edwards surrendered on June 3. Wright was apprehended in Ohio on July 5. Both have been indicted for first-degree murder and are currently held without bail.

After Boston Police circulated an image of the then-unknown driver, who was captured on private video surveillance shortly before the homicide, members of the Norwood Police Department identified him as Murphy-Peterson. Murphy-Peterson allegedly identified himself from the same footage.

Murphy-Peterson was represented today by attorney William White. He will return to court on Oct. 11.
