Three Females Charged in Revere Robbery

BOSTON, Jan. 24, 2013—Three women accused of robbing a Revere convenience store at knife point were arraigned last week, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

KERRY JENKINS (11/19/76), a homeless woman from Revere, was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Jan. 17 on a charge of armed robbery, and HEATHER HARPER (D.O.B. 11/3/89) of Dedham and NICOLE THAIN (D.O.B. 2/22/83) of Boston were arraigned on the same charge the next day.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Miller requested each of the three defendants be held on $10,000 bail and be ordered to stay away from the store and the victim. Judge Paul Yee set bail at $5,000 each and granted the stay-away order.

In addition to their current charges, prosecutors said, Jenkins has an outstanding warrant out of Dedham District Court for larceny over $250 and another warrant for disturbing the peace out of Brockton District Court. Prosecutors also said Harper has two warrants for shoplifting out of Dedham and Somerville district courts, and Thain has warrants from East Boston District Court for possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B drugs and another warrant for shoplifting out of Salem District Court.

According to prosecutors, Revere Police responded to Shirley Avenue around 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 16 for reports of a woman screaming for help. There, they found the owner of a local convenience store. Prosecutors said the store owner was alone in the store when three women entered. The owner followed one of the women through the store while the others stood by the counter. The store owner tried to stop the woman as she moved toward the register and tried to open it, prosecutors said, but a second woman grabbed the victim and pushed her against shelves. The third woman then held a folding knife to the victim, prosecutors said.

The three women fled the store with all of the money from the registered, prosecutors said.

The victim, who was not injured, provided police with descriptions of the suspects’ appearances and clothing and identified them as prostitutes who frequent the area, prosecutors said.

Officers familiar with the area quickly identified Harper and Jenkins as suspects based on the descriptions provided by the victim, prosecutors said.

Revere and State police located Jenkins on Shirley Street later that night, prosecutors said. After being read her Miranda rights, prosecutors said Jenkins made statements to police that she, Harper, and Thain had taken part in the earlier robbery.

The victim was brought to the area and positively identified Jenkins as one of the women who robbed her, prosecutors said.

Around 7:30 the following evening, police arrested Harper and Thain at a grocery store in the area of Shirley Avenue. During post-Miranda interviews, both women made statements admitting to their involvement in the robbery, prosecutors said.

Harper is represented by Tony Fugate. Jenkins is represented by John Haggerty. Thain is represented by Michael Casey. All three will return to court on Feb. 22.
