Two Arraigned For Post-Parade Offenses

Two men were arraigned and seven more will be summonsed to court in the near future for offenses at and after Saturday’s victory parade for the Boston Bruins, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MICHAEL K. EDDY (D.O.B. 8/22/88) of Reading was arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court this morning on charges of affray, disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a public employee, and two counts of assault and battery on ambulance personnel. He was released on his own recognizance and will return to court on Aug. 17.

Boston Police arrested Eddy near 125 Tremont St. after they saw a fight break out in that area. The combatants were separated, with witnesses telling the officers that Eddy was the instigator of that fight. The second participant was taken into custody without incident, but Eddy allegedly struggled with officers, requiring them to take him to the ground and handcuff him. Eddy allegedly spat blood in one officer’s face and onto two attending paramedics at the scene.

TRAVIS SMITH (D.O.B. 10/31/78) of South Yarmouth was also arraigned in the BMC this morning. He was charged with disorderly conduct and carrying a dangerous weapon for allegedly harassing and trying to start a fight with a family who flagged down a Boston Police officer at Downtown Crossing. Once the family had gone on their way, the officer instructed Smith to leave the area. Smith allegedly refused that instruction and two more orders to do so.

Smith allegedly became loud and belligerent toward the officers and began to reach into his back pocket. One officer prevented him from doing so and saw the item to be a folding knife. Smith was taken into custody at the scene. He was held on $1000 cash bail and will return to court on July 15.
