TWO CHARGED IN FRANKLIN HILL DOUBLE MURDER

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis today announced murder charges against two men for the murders of Jarrid Cambpell and Jeffrey Jones near the Franklin Hill housing development two years ago.

Indictments were unsealed yesterday charging STANLEY EARL JENKINS, Jr. (D.O.B. 4/18/83) of Roslindale and DONALD RAY WILLIAMS (D.O.B. 10/4/84) of Dorchester with two counts each of first-degree murder and one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm for the victims’ shooting deaths in a car parked on Shandon Road on the night of July 12, 2007.

“These indictments are the direct result of Suffolk prosecutors and Boston Police who would not give up when they encountered early resistance,” Conley said. “Literally dozens of witnesses and potential witnesses were interviewed, and more than 40 of them were ultimately called into the grand jury. For anyone who thinks he can count on threats, intimidation, or a code of silence to help him beat a murder charge, we offer this as evidence to the contrary.”

“I’d like to recognize and commend the collaborative work by both Boston Police Homicide detectives and Suffolk County prosecutors in their efforts to doggedly pursue justice for Jarrid Cambpell and Jeffrey Jones,” Davis said. “I hope this arrest provides in some small measure a level of relief and comfort to their family and friends.”

Evidence developed in the course of a far-reaching investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives on the street and Suffolk prosecutors in the Special Grand Jury indicates that both victims had attended a large outdoor party at Franklin Hill earlier that evening. The party, which featured a concert by local musicians, was also attended by members of several area gangs.

As the hour grew later, Cambpell became embroiled in an argument with another partygoer. He and Jones then went to the car in which they arrived, which was parked near the intersection of Shandon Road and Fermoy Heights Avenue. Shortly after 11:15 p.m., authorities say, Jenkins and Williams approached the car on foot and fired multiple rounds at the two men inside, killing both.

Jenkins is currently in federal custody following his conviction on unrelated drug charges. Williams is being held on high bail for state attempted murder charges. Both will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court at a later date.
