Two Charged With Gun Offenses; Theater District Death Investigation Ongoing

Two men were arraigned on gun charges this afternoon in connection with a homicide investigation that remains open and active, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANDREW FLONORY (D.O.B. 1/12/85) of Brockton and JOSHUA HOLLIS (D.O.B. 10/23/88) of Cambridge were both charged with unlawful possession of a firearm following their arrests in separate cars at a parking garage in Boston’s Theater District early this morning.

Assistant District Attorney Susan Terrey recommended that Flonory be held on $100,000 cash bail and Hollis be held on $50,000. Boston Municipal Court Judge Raymond Dougan, Jr., set Flonory’s bail at $25,000 and ordered him held on a probation detainer in light of his open probation on assault-related convictions; he set Hollis’ bail at $10,000.

Boston Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 275 Tremont St. at about 2:00 this morning. The officers learned that additional shots had been fired at a garage located at a nearby parking garage, and they rapidly closed off the garage so no suspects could flee the area.

Flonory was the back seat passenger in a Honda with tinted windows and no front seat passenger, Terrey said. As the officers approached the vehicle, they saw Flonory leaning forward as if placing something under the seat in front of him. When the officers asked him to move and shone a flashlight inside, they saw a handgun on the floor near his legs.

A short time later, other officers at the scene observed Hollis in a Dodge Charger appearing nervous, fidgeting, and avoiding eye contact, Terrey told the court. The officers saw Hollis moving something toward his left side. In light of the report indicating multiple gunshots, and the recovery of Flonory’s gun, the officers asked him to exit the car and performed a pat frisk, which turned up a firearm.

Boston Police also obtained information that two male victims had been admitted to Boston Medical Center with gunshot wounds. One, age 29, was pronounced deceased; the other, a 24-year-old, was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. The investigation into those shootings remains active and ongoing by Boston Police homicide detectives and Suffolk prosecutors assigned to the DA’s Homicide Unit.

Flonory was represented by attorney James Doyle and will return to court on March 15. Harris was represented by attorney James Greenberg and will return to court on March 29.
