Two Stabbed, One Nabbed in Melee Outside Nightclub

BOSTON, June 10, 2014—A Milton man was held on high bail at his arraignment Monday on charges he stabbed two people outside a Theater District nightclub, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

NJISANE CHAMBERS (D.O.B. 9/29/87) was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.  At the request of Assistant District Attorney Eric Anderson, Judge Robert McKenna imposed $25,000 bail and ordered Chambers to wear a GPS monitor, abide by a curfew, and stay away and have no contact with the victims in the event he is released on bail.

According to prosecutors, Boston Police officers conducting crowd control outside the Rumor and Venu nightclubs around 2:00 a.m. Saturday observed a woman lying in the street clutching her side and two men engaged in a physical altercation.  As officers attempted to break up the fight, one of the men repeatedly shouted that the other man, later identified as Chambers, had stabbed the woman.

“This [expletive] just stabbed my girlfriend,” he exclaimed before briefly breaking free and attempting to grab Chambers.

During the struggle, both men and one officer fell to the ground.  As officers handcuffed Chambers, a black folding knife with the blade open was found on the ground, prosecutors said.

Once Chambers was in custody, officers were approached by a man who informed police that he, too, had been stabbed, and pointed out Chambers as the man who had stabbed him and the female victim.

Both victims suffered stab wounds to the back.  The female victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital the male victim to Tufts Medical Center.  Neither suffered life-threatening injuries and both are expected to survive. Chambers, who sustained a laceration to his leg, was treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Chambers is represented by attorney Hassan Williams.  He will return to court July 7.
