The victim, a 63-year-old Dorchester resident, was entering his car in the area of 890 Morton St. at about 10:20 on Saturday night when he was struck by another vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. That vehicle is believed to be a four-door sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, and possibly brown or silver in color. The vehicle may have body damage on its right front end.

With the assistance of Boston Police, State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office recovered footage from nearby public safety cameras that shows the suspect vehicle leaving the scene. Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle’s owner or location is asked to contact the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.

Responding emergency medical technicians rushed the man to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for injuries so severe that a priest performed his last rites. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Suffolk SPDU is leading the investigation because it took place along Route 203, a State roadway within the City of Boston. They are assisted by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and other specialized units.
