Youth, 15, Charged with Fatal Stabbing of 18-Year-old

BOSTON, July 6, 2017—A youth of 15 was charged with murder today in connection with the fatal stabbing yesterday of 18-year-old Anthony Woodbridge in Roxbury, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

McKINLEY ARCHIE (D.O.B. 8/7/01) was arraigned in Roxbury Municipal Court today for the homicide in the area of Ziegler and Warren streets yesterday morning. Judge David Poole ordered him held without bail. Massachusetts courts automatically charge juveniles accused of murder as adults.

Assistant District Attorney Craig Iannini told the court that video footage and witness statements suggest Archie was in a car with two adults at about 9:50 am when the car stopped and McKinley got out. He allegedly approached the victim, and stabbed him in the chest, causing fatal injuries.

An adult also exited the vehicle and intervened. She pulled McKinley away from the victim and back into the car, which left the area. Witnesses provided the car’s license plate to investigators and identified McKinley from a photo array, leading to his arrest late yesterday afternoon.

Woodbridge was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. Conley assigned victim-witness advocate Elise McConnell to assist the teen’s family in the aftermath of his homicide.

Attorney Jason Benzaken represented McKinley today. The case will return to court on Aug. 7.
