A Dorchester man was held on $1 million dollars cash bail today following his indictment for two previously-unsolved rapes in the fall of 2004, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Assistant District Attorney David Deakin, chief of Conley’s Family Protection and Sexual Assault Bureau, recommended that amount at the arraignment of ANWAR THOMAS (D.O.B. 5/9/82) in Suffolk Superior Court this morning, citing “extraordinarily strong” evidence of his guilt and the incentive it provides him to flee the charges. more »

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s top homicide prosecutor today gave the most detailed account to date of the murder of Stephanie Moulton, a 25-year-old counselor at a Revere group home, at the hands of a resident.

The Suffolk County Grand Jury yesterday returned an indictment charging DESHAWN JAMES CHAPPELL (D.O.B. 9/9/83) with first-degree murder for Moulton’s death earlier this year. Chappell was arraigned on that charge late this morning in Suffolk Superior Court. more »

A Dorchester teen today admitted he was one of two drive-by gunmen who fired on a group on Wilcock Street in Mattapan two years ago, killing 49-year-old Fred Bing, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DAMANTE BURRELL (D.O.B. 9/5/92) pleaded guilty to manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm at an emotional hearing in Suffolk Superior Court this morning, accepting a prison term of 15 to 25 years after apologizing to Bing’s family. His co-defendant is expected to face trial on first-degree murder charges next month. more »

Two Dorchester men were sentenced to jail yesterday after juries in their separate cases convicted them of firearms offenses in the Suffolk County Gun Court, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

TREON MAYERS (D.O.B. 11/28/83) was sentenced to two years in the House of Correction to be followed by four years of probation. HAKEEM COLEMAN (D.O.B. 5/29/78) was sentenced to two and a half years in the House of Correction and a second two-and-a-half-year term that will be suspended for six and a half years. more »

Weeks after a jury convicted three men in the fatal 2009 beating of Jose “Danny” Alicea, the last defendants facing homicide charges in connection with his death pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter rather than face trial, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

“Thirteen defendants were charged and thirteen defendants were held accountable,” Conley said.

JUSTIN COOKE (D.O.B. 1/17/84), JONATHAN FERNANDEZ (D.O.B. 12/24/85), and RUSKYN GARCIA (D.O.B. 5/21/84) were sentenced to state prison terms today for their roles in the Aug. 21, 2009, beating of Alicea near Club 33 on Stanhope Street. Alicea died of his injuries three days later. more »

The Massachusetts Appeals Court today upheld a Dorchester man’s conviction for stabbing a co-worker to death at a Copley Place restaurant kitchen, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The Appeals Court affirmed IVAN LORENZO SOSA’s involuntary manslaughter conviction stemming from the Sept. 15, 2006, stabbing death of 39-year-old Carlos Borrero, Jr., in the Turner Fisheries Restaurant at Copley Square’s Westin Hotel, where both men worked. The fatal injury was a stab wound that penetrated the victim’s right lung, causing him to bleed to death. more »

A man wanted for attempted murder in Puerto Rico was apprehended in Chelsea this week and held without bail at his arraignment as a fugitive from justice, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Acting on information developed during a lengthy investigation, members of the US Marshal’s Service, State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, and Chelsea Police Department arrested MICHAEL ROLDAN-COTTO (D.O.B. 4/26/90) yesterday afternoon on a warrant out of San Juan. more »

An Roslindale teen remains held without bail today following his indictment for the murder of one man and the attempted murder of another on board an MBTA bus last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

KIM GROSS, Jr. (D.O.B. 12/7/92) was indicted March 9 on charges of first-degree murder, armed assault with intent to murder, and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the Nov. 2, 2010, stabbing death of 21-year-old Richard Allen and his 18-year-old friend shortly after they boarded a Route 44 bus in Roxbury. more »

The Suffolk County Grand Jury yesterday returned a 21-count indictment charging the former director of the Revere Public Library with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars by purchasing items with city funds and either keeping them or selling them and pocketing the proceeds, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The indictments charge ROBERT RICE (D.O.B. 5/5/65) of Rowley with three counts of larceny over $250, three counts of embezzlement by a city officer, and 15 counts of procurement fraud. All of the offenses are felonies. Rice is expected to face arraignment on the charges in Suffolk Superior Court on April 1. more »

A Revere man was held on high bail yesterday after he allegedly tried and failed to snatch a woman’s purse, then grabbed her companion’s bag and the laptop computer it contained, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

VIKTOR KLEIN (D.O.B.4/10/82) was arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court and charged with unarmed robbery and attempted robbery for the March 12 incident. In his request for a high bail, Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lord noted that Klein had previously been convicted of robbery offenses in Worcester Superior Court and has a criminal history in Texas. Judge Thomas C. Horgan set bail at $20,000. more »

Three men were sentenced to state prison terms today for the fatal beating of 22-year-old Jose “Danny” Alicea, a new father, near a downtown nightclub two years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Assistant District Attorney David Fredette of Conley’s Homicide Unit recommended that DANIEL EK (D.O.B. 7/13/86) serve 10 to 14 years in prison, that JOHAN GARCIA (D.O.B. 11/24/80) and ANTHONY VILLALOBOS (D.O.B. 12/29/87) serve 8 to 12 years in state prison, and that all three serve three years of probation upon their release. The men were convicted of involuntary manslaughter and other offenses on Feb. 28. more »

A former East Boston resident was returned to Boston this weekend following his arrest in Virginia for the stabbing death of 33-year-old Jose Ramirez in the East Boston apartment they once shared, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

JORGE MERINO (D.O.B. 11/8/80) was just days away from deportation when Boston Police homicide detectives located him and charged him with murder for allegedly slashing Ramirez’ throat inside their Marion Street apartment on the morning of July 26, 2009, leading to Ramirez’ death three days later. Merino is expected to be arraigned on that charge today in East Boston District Court. more »

A Chelsea woman was held on $1 million cash bail today after a Suffolk County prosecutor said she admitted to setting a Christmas Eve fire that killed 20-year-old Crystal Blanchard, left her boyfriend with third-degree burns, and injured two firefighters, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MELISSA PFEIFFER (D.O.B. 1/12/84) was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court today on a five-count indictment charging her with second-degree murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon – specifically fire – causing serious injury, arson, and two counts of causing injury to a firefighter as a result of criminal conduct. The Suffolk County Grand Jury returned the indictments Tuesday. more »

A repeat drunk driver from Revere drove to his arraignment yesterday even though his license had been suspended after his fourth drunk driving offense Saturday, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

In requesting $1,000 cash bail for JESSE DALRYMPLE (D.O.B. 6/24/66), Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Brandt told the court that Dalrymple blew a .18 on a Breathalyzer test – more than double the legal limit for driving. Brandt also told the court that Dalrymple had convictions in Ayer and Somerville for operating under the influence in 1994 and 1990, and that he admitted to facts sufficient for a finding of guilty for the same offense in Charlestown in 1987. more »

The suspect in a triple stabbing that left Daniel Hernandez-Martinez dead in an early morning street fight was held without bail at his arraignment on murder and related charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

OSCAR GUTTIEREZ-NUNES (D.O.B. 2/11/84) of Chelsea is charged with murder for allegedly stabbing Hernandez-Martinez to death near the intersection of Everett Avenue and Carter Street just before 1:00 Friday morning. He is additionally charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old East Boston man and a 19-year-old Revere man during the same incident. more »

A Dorchester man will serve up to 20 years in state prison for shooting a 45-year-old woman as she enjoyed a night on the porch two summers ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury on Friday convicted DERRICK RICHARDSON (D.O.B. 12/23/89) of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. more »

Chelsea Police and State Police homicide detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office this afternoon arrested a Chelsea man in connection with three stabbings early this morning, one of them fatal.

OSCAR GUTTIEREZ-NUNES (D.O.B. 2/11/84) was arrested at Chelsea Police headquarters. He is expected to face arraignment Monday on one count of murder, one count of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. more »

A Dorchester man was arraigned today for allegedly punching and pushing three women – including a pregnant woman and his own ex-girlfriend – on an MBTA Orange Line train yesterday, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANTWAUN D. THOMPSON (D.O.B. 2/7/86) is charged with two counts of assault and battery and one count of aggravated assault and battery for punching a former girlfriend, a 22-year-old Roxbury woman, and two of her friends, a 28-year-old Dorchester woman who is eight-months pregnant and a 21-year-old Boston woman. more »

A man who runs a local school transportation service has been charged with sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl placed in his care, Revere Police Chief Terence Reardon and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

Revere Police arrested SERGIO LARA (D.O.B. 7/10/57) on March 2. Suffolk prosecutors arraigned him in Chelsea District Court yesterday on one count each of rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child. He was held on $100,000 cash bail and ordered to return to court on March 31. more »

Two men were arraigned on gun charges this afternoon in connection with a homicide investigation that remains open and active, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANDREW FLONORY (D.O.B. 1/12/85) of Brockton and JOSHUA HOLLIS (D.O.B. 10/23/88) of Cambridge were both charged with unlawful possession of a firearm following their arrests in separate cars at a parking garage in Boston’s Theater District early this morning. more »
