BOSTON, Dec. 31, 2012—A South End man was charged with armed robbery today after he allegedly stole a hair dryer, condoms, cologne, and other items from a man he’d met online, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MARCUS JACKSON (D.O.B. 8/17/87) was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court today in connection with yesterday evening’s incident. Assistant District Attorney Kristina Kerwin recommended that he be held on $10,000 cash bail and Judge Ernest Sarason set bail at $1,000. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 27, 2012—Three men from Cambridge were arraigned in Boston today after a handgun was recovered from their car, which matched the description of a vehicle from which shots were fired in Chinatown early this morning, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DARIO SANTOS, Jr. (D.O.B. 5/9/89); ERIC SMALL, Jr. (D.O.B. 8/21/90); and KADEEM WINSPEARE (D.O.B. 3/14/90) were all charged in the Boston Municipal Court with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm within 500’ of a building, and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 27, 2012—Two Dorchester men were arraigned this week for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint on Christmas Eve, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

At proceedings yesterday in Dorchester District Court, JOHN CESAR (D.O.B. 3/13/92) and ANTIOWANE DAVIS (D.O.B. 8/30/93) were arraigned on charges of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm; Davis was additionally arraigned on a breaking and entering charge.  Assistant District Attorney Michael DiStefano requested Cesar’s bail be set at $25,000 and Davis’ at $50,000.  Judge Robert N. Tochka ordered $5,000 bail for Cesar at $10,000 for Davis. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 24, 2012—A Christmas season traveler was held on high bail today after State Police and Homeland Security officials found almost four kilograms of cocaine in the tires of a wheelchair he was using for no apparent medical purpose, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Arrested Friday at Logan International Airport, EMMANUELLI ROJAS-MORAZA (D.O.B. 3/25/79) of Carolina, Puerto Rico, was arraigned today in East Boston District Court on one count of trafficking in more than 200 grams of cocaine. Judge Tracy-Lee Lyons set his bail at $45,000 cash. more »

Boston, Dec. 20, 2012 — A Brighton man was held without bail at his arraignment on charges of murder and armed robbery in the November shooting death of Leroy Cooper, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

ROBERT WILLIAMS (D.O.B. 5/10/91) was arraigned today in Brighton District Court. Judge David T. Donnelly ordered Williams held without bail, per the request of Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins. more »

Boston, Dec. 20, 2012 – An Everett man pleaded guilty yesterday to hitting a woman in the head with a Louisville Slugger baseball bat on Halloween two years ago, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

CARMEN PICARDI (D.O.B. 1/17/71) pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the 2010 attack on a 21-year-old Medford woman. Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Walsh recommended a sentence of three to five years in state prison. Suffolk Superior Court Judge Carol S. Ball sentenced Picardi to two to three years. more »

Boston, Dec. 19, 2012 – A former union official has been found guilty in the theft and misuse of more than $100,000 in union funds, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury deliberated for only two and a half hours before finding JOHN HORAN (D.O.B. 7/16/64) of Spencer guilty of two counts of larceny over $250 by scheme. Sentencing will take place in January. more »

Boston, Dec. 19, 2012 – A man convicted yesterday of beating and strangling Frederick Allen of Chelsea received a mandatory sentence of life in prison, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MARIO CRUZADO (D.O.B. 7/10/73) was sentenced by Suffolk Superior Court Judge Linda Giles in the 2010 murder of 56-year-old Frederick Allen of Chelsea inside the victim’s Bellingham Street apartment.  A jury deliberated for half a day before finding Cruzado guilty of first-degree murder, which carries an automatic life sentence. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 18, 2012—The man who beat and strangled 56-year-old Frederick Allen in his Chelsea apartment two years ago was convicted of first-degree murder late today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

After four days of testimony and about half a day of deliberations, a Suffolk Superior Court jury found MARIO CRUZADO (D.O.B. 7/10/73) guilty in Allen’s brutal death inside the victim’s Bellingham Street apartment on or about Nov. 24, 2010. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 17, 2012—A Dorchester woman who was allegedly drunk when she drove her SUV into two pedestrians was held on high bail at her arraignment today just hours before one of them succumbed to his injuries, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

CHAMPREE DINKINS (D.O.B. 4/11/88) was held on $500,000 at her Dorchester District Court arraignment on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon – a motor vehicle – as well as charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 17, 2012—A Mattapan man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murders of Amanihotep Smith, Eyanna Flonory, Lavaughan Washum-Garrsion, and Simba Martin after a home invasion and robbery two years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DWAYNE MOORE (D.O.B. 6/25/77) was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder and single counts of armed robbery and home invasion in the Sept. 28, 2010, massacre near the intersection of Woolson and Wildwood streets in Mattapan. The jury, drawn from a panel of Worcester County residents on a motion by Moore’s attorney, acquitted him of three additional charges related to the non-fatal shooting of a fifth victim. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 13, 2011—Two men were arraigned today for allegedly beating a Chelsea man in the head with a tire jack in a dispute that may have arisen over a pair of stolen sneakers, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ALEXANDER GUEVARA (D.O.B. 2/23/91) of Chelsea and ANTONIO RIVERA (D.O.B. 10/2/91) of Boston were formally charged in Chelsea District Court after their arrests last night by Chelsea Police for the Sunday afternoon incident. Rivera was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and possession of a class B substance. Guevara faced a single count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly wielding a tire jack during the attack. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 10, 2011—A former teacher’s aide today admitted to having improper sexual contact with two special needs students who had been entrusted to his care, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

LASHAWN HILL (D.O.B. 3/10/78) pleaded guilty to one count each of indecent assault and battery on a child, lewd and lascivious conduct, and lascivious acts with a child. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 10, 2011—A Roxbury man freed from a five-year prison term amid an ongoing probe of the state’s former drug testing facility was back in court today after allegedly supplying crack cocaine to a drug dealer, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

LOUIS ANTHONY WILLIAMS (D.O.B. 11/12/82) was arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court today on a charge of distributing a Class B substance as a second or subsequent offense. The charge follows four prior drug distribution convictions, including one in Suffolk Superior Court for which he was sentenced to five years in state prison but was released because the chemist who tested the drugs is now under investigation. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 10, 2012—Two men were sentenced to prison in recent weeks after admitting their guilt in cases of sexual violence involving family members, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

On Nov. 29, PEDRO ALVAREZ (D.O.B. 12/3/64) of Boston’s South End pleaded guilty to multiple counts of rape of a child and indecent assault and battery for assaults on two young girls and one young boy in his extended family. Assistant District Attorney Alissa Goldhaber recommended that he serve eight to 10 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of probation upon his release. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 7, 2012—A member of the state’s second-highest court today joined Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s senior staff during a day-long training for district court prosecutors.

Associate Justice Joseph A. Grasso, Jr., of the Massachusetts Appeals Court spoke for an hour and a half on a variety of topics faced by prosecutors in what is often their first assignment – the fast-paced world of district and municipal court. Grasso focused his remarks primarily on matters of search and seizure, the subject of his 2011 book, Suppression Matters under Massachusetts Law. more »

BOSTON, Dec. 6, 2012—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley is joining former state senator Jarrett Barrios and Jane Doe Inc. in an annual call for men to help stop violence against women.

Conley was selected to co-chair the sixth annual Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign, which remembers the 1989 massacre of 14 women on a Montreal college campus. The campaign was created to urge men to make a pledge not to commit, condone, or remain silent on violence against women. more »
