BOSTON, November 28, 2016— A Bedford man was arraigned today on charges of breaking into and vandalizing a Downtown church, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ERIK SWANSON (D.O.B. 1/9/83) of Bedford was arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court on charges of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $250, and malicious destruction of property over $250 in connection with a break-in on Friday morning, as well as charges of trespassing and receiving stolen property stemming from his arrest yesterday. He was additionally arraigned on charges of possession of a Class A substance, possession of a Class A substance as a subsequent offense, and a municipal by-law violation alleging possession of a crack pipe.

Judge Michael Coyne set bail on the cases totaling $3,500 and granted a request by Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Tochka that Swanson’s bail be revoked on two cases out of the same court: one charging breaking and entering a motor vehicle and interfering with a police officer and the other charging attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, trespassing, and receiving stolen property over $250. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 28, 2016—The driver of a sedan that collided with an airport shuttle van, killing two people, had the psychoactive chemical in marijuana in his blood and urine in addition to a blood-alcohol content almost twice the legal limit for driving, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

STEVEN BIRENBAUM (D.O.B. 7/6/89) of Swampscott was arraigned today on indictments charging him with two counts each of manslaughter and motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence. The indictments stem from the Aug. 31 deaths of Joseph A. Rodriguez, 59, and Sandra L. Arreola, 56, both of El Paso, Texas, on Route 90 in East Boston. more »

Another Driver Charged with OUI in Thanksgiving Collision with State Police Cruiser

BOSTON, Nov. 25, 2016—A man with a revoked driver’s license was arraigned today for allegedly driving into four uniformed Boston Police officers earlier this week as they investigated a call for a person with a gun, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

VINCENT WEAKS (D.O.B. 6/5/82) of Dorchester was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court on four counts each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of a collision causing personal injury. Judge Jonathan Tynes set bail at $75,000 and ordered that Weaks wear a GPS monitor and abide by a curfew should he post that amount.

In addition to setting the high bail for the Nov. 23 incident, Tynes ordered Weaks held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he had violated the terms of his probation on convictions last year for drug and assault charges. more »

BOSTON, November 23, 2016—The family of Karima El-Hakim  said their holidays were “hollow” after her 2013 homicide and acknowledged their grief for the family of Zouaoui Dani-Elkebir, also slain by a gunman who was sentenced to life in prison today for their murders, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury earlier last week found MAURICE MORRISON (D.O.B. 2/19/85) guilty of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm for killing El-Hakim, 38, and Dani-Elkebir, 52, in Chelsea.  At his sentencing today, Assistant District Attorney Mark Lee recommended that Morrison serve his two mandatory life terms back to back; Judge Kenneth Salinger ordered that they run concurrent with one another. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 22, 2016— The man who shot and killed 29-year-old Shawn Flores during a 2011 argument will not receive a new trial, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

In a decision released today, the Massachusetts Appeals Court affirmed the second-degree murder conviction of KENDRICK CLARK (D.O.B. 3/19/74) of Mattapan.  A Suffolk Superior Court jury in 2014 found Clark guilty of killing Flores during an altercation inside the Abbott Street rooming house where both men lived. more »

Sought in connection with June 4, 2016, hit-and-run death of Marco Salguero-Cruz in Chelsea

BOSTON, Nov. 14, 2016—The day a driver was arraigned for leaving the scene of a non-fatal hit-and-run in Chelsea, Police Chief Brian Kyes and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley released new images they hope will help detectives investigating a fatal collision earlier this year.

Chelsea Police and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying the operator of a 2007-2009 Toyota Camry SE, silver in color, with a sunroof and fog lights, that struck a pedestrian on the night of June 4 and left the scene. The vehicle is believed to have sustained damage to the front driver’s side during the collision, which took place in the area of 284 Washington St. just after 10:00 pm. The victim, 25-year-old Marco Salguero-Cruz of Chelsea, died of his injuries. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 21, 2016—After Suffolk prosecutors were allowed to use witness’ grand jury testimony at a trial scheduled to start last week, the defendant in a 2014 armed home invasion pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison time, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ROBERT HECKSTALL (D.O.B. 3/18/83) was set to face trial in Suffolk Superior Court on Nov. 14, but certain prosecution witnesses were unwilling to testify in light of intimidating text messages they had received from an unknown party. Under a 2005 Supreme Judicial Court’s decision, Assistant District Attorney Stacey Pichardo of the DA’s Gang Unit cited those messages, the defendant’s statements that he would not even contemplate a plea until he saw the witnesses in the courtroom, and a prior conviction for witness intimidation, and moved to introduce those witness’ grand jury testimony even without their physical presence. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 18, 2016—Hours after his arrest for the shooting death of 24-year-old Anthony Toombs in Roxbury, a Dorchester man was held without bail on murder and related charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANTOIWANE DAVIS (D.O.B. 8/30/93) was arrested by Boston Police this morning and arraigned in Roxbury Municipal Court this afternoon on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawfully discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. At the request of Assistant District Attorney Amy Galatis of the DA’s Homicide Unit, Judge David Weingarten ordered him held without bail. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 17, 2016—The man accused of shooting 31-year-old Andrew Flonory to death five months ago was formally charged with murder today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

JULIAN TROCHE (D.O.B. 7/15/92) was arraigned today in Dorchester Municipal Court following his arrest yesterday by members of the Boston Police Homicide Unit and SWAT team. At the request of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hallal, chief of the DA’s Senior Trial Unit, Judge Paul McManus ordered him held without bail. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 17, 2016—Three juveniles have been arraigned on hate crime charges after they allegedly harassed and assaulted a woman they believed to be an immigrant on an MBTA train last week, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A 15-year-old female from Mattapan and 15-year-old female from Dorchester were arraigned in the juvenile division of Dorchester Municipal Court on Nov. 9 in connection with the assault two days earlier, while a 15-year-old female from Dorchester was arraigned Monday.  All three are charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and civil rights violation causing injury.  All three juveniles were released to their parents’ custody with orders to stay away from one another, the victim, and witnesses in the case. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 14, 2016—A Chelsea man was convicted of two counts of murder today for shooting Zouaoui Dani-Elkebir, 52, and Karima El-Hakim, 38, to death three years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Jurors found MAURICE MORRISON (D.O.B. 2/19/85) guilty of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in the May 13, 2013, homicides. Their verdict today followed about six days of deliberations. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 14, 2016—A motorist who collided with an airport shuttle this summer, causing a crash that claimed two lives, has been indicted for manslaughter, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

BOSTON, November 14, 2016— As the deadline for his grant program nears, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today encouraged non-profits serving Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop youth to apply for funding through his Asset Forfeiture Community Reinvestment Grant program.

The deadline for AFCRG applications is 4:00 p.m. on Friday.  The program uses funds and assets seized from drug traffickers in order to provide cash awards to non-profits that keep Suffolk County kids away from drugs, gangs, and dangerous behavior.  Under Conley’s leadership, it has provided funding to dozens of youth groups, community centers, and social service agencies at no cost to taxpayers. more »

BOSTON, Oct. 9, 2016—Nine people have been indicted by the Suffolk County Grand Jury in connection with the March murder of 26-year-old Chaz Burton, four of whom appeared in court today following their arrests by Boston Police, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley Police Commissioner William B. Evans said.

The grand jury yesterday returned indictments charging three people with Burton’s murder and six others with offenses in connection with the fatal attack and attempts to mislead police investigating the homicide. more »

BOSTON, November 4, 2016—The former head of a Boston elder services program this week pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars in grant money that was intended to help Boston seniors and returned a large portion of those funds, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ALFRED G. DAVIS (D.O.B. 5/20/45) of Lynn on Wednesday pleaded guilty to two counts of larceny over $250 and single counts of forgery and uttering.  At the recommendation of prosecutors and Davis’ attorney, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Rosalind Miller sentenced Davis to one year of probation, during which he must repay $12,500 in restitution.  Davis paid half of that amount at the time of his sentencing, prosecutors said. more »

BOSTON, November 3, 2016—A Boston man pleaded guilty yesterday to posing as a lawyer in order to steal more than $30,000 from his victims, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DAVID KORACA (D.O.B. 12/1/67) AKA DAVID CORAZZA yesterday pleaded guilty to six counts of unauthorized practice of law, four counts of attempting to commit a crime, three counts of larceny over $250 by scheme, and single counts of larceny over $250, common law forgery, and common law uttering. At prosecutors’ request, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Mary Ames sentenced Koraca to a term of two to three years in state prison followed by three years of probation. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 1, 2016—Nearly two decades after he fled prosecution, a Chelsea man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a child, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury yesterday convicted MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ (D.O.B. 9/19/62) a.k.a. MIGUEL ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ MONTECINOS of one count of rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 for assaults that occurred in 1997.  He faces sentencing Tuesday. more »
