BOSTON, Nov. 30, 2017—A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted two men of shooting 21-year-old Kenny Lamour to death as he worked as part of a snow-shoveling crew, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

After about three days of deliberations, jurors convicted DONTE HENLEY (D.O.B. 5/18/90) and JOSIAH ZACHERY (D.O.B. 7/13/96) of second-degree murder for Lamour’s Feb. 11, 2015, homicide. Jurors also convicted Zachery of assault with a dangerous weapon for shooting at – but not hitting – a Boston Police officer who pursued him during a foot chase near the crime scene and unlawful possession of a firearm. more »

Drug Lab Employee at Amherst DPH Facility Linked to 134 Suffolk County Cases

BOSTON, Nov. 30, 2017—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office today filed a list of 134 Suffolk County narcotics convictions that included as evidence a certificate of analysis by former civilian chemist Sonja Farak, notifying the state’s highest court that he will move to vacate and dismiss all of them.

Suffolk prosecutors provided their list of cases to the Supreme Judicial Court more than a year after providing similar data to the Committee for Public Counsel Services in a detailed, searchable spreadsheet. That data – which included defendants’ names, docket numbers, and other relevant information – was provided by Conley’s point person for the Farak cases to the CPCS attorney in charge of all drug lab litigation on Aug. 19, 2016. more »

BOSTON, November 28, 2017— The man convicted of fatally stabbing Anthony Spaulding outside a New Year’s Eve party will not receive a new trial, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Massachusetts Appeals Court panel today affirmed the voluntary manslaughter conviction of BRIAN MacDONALD (D.O.B. 4/7/88), whom a Suffolk Superior Court jury found guilty of stabbing Spaulding to death outside the victim’s Allston home in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2013. MacDonald is currently serving a term of seven to 10 years in state prison. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 21, 2017—A Braintree man was charged with murder and other offenses today following his arrest for the homicide of 55-year-old Nelson Torres-Santa inside the victim’s home earlier this month, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

THOMAS ISAAC, Jr., (D.O.B. 1/17/96) was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court, where Judge Paul McManus ordered him held without bail at the request of Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins’ request. He was charged with murder, armed home invasion, and armed robbery. more »

BOSTON, November 17, 2017— A Revere man was arraigned this week for being an armed career criminal after Revere Police recovered a firearm, a stun gun, and drugs at his home, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

NELSON AGUILAR (D.O.B. 8/12/94) of Revere was arraigned in Chelsea District Court Tuesday on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of an electric stun gun, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance, and being a Level II armed career criminal.  According to prosecutors, Aguilar has prior convictions for assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.

Prosecutors requested that bail be set in the amount of $50,000 and that Aguilar’s open bail be revoked in two cases pending in Chelsea District Court; those cases charge assault with a dangerous weapon, threats and unlawful possession of ammunition.   Judge Jean Curran imposed $25,000 bail and revoked Aguilar’s open bail. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 16, 2017—A ride-share driver who allegedly sold heroin to an undercover State trooper this fall has been charged with drug trafficking after his arrest in Boston and the execution of a search warrant at his home in Lawrence, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said.

ARIEL PIMENTAL (D.O.B. 3/4/91) was arraigned yesterday in South Boston Municipal Court on three separate dockets, two charging distribution of a Class A substance and one charging trafficking in heroin. The charges stem from two $200 heroin purchases that troopers made from Pimental in September and the recovery of more than 20 grams of heroin during his Tuesday afternoon arrest in the Seaport District. A single dose of heroin weighs approximately 1/10 of one gram. more »

BOSTON, November 15, 2017— A Roxbury man has been indicted in a months-long string of armed robberies that repeatedly targeted several Roxbury businesses, their employees, and their customers, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The Suffolk County Grand Jury yesterday returned indictments charging IMAURI IVERY (D.O.B. 6/15/79) with:

  • 20 counts of armed and masked robbery,
  • four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon,
  • two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon,
  • two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm,
  • two counts of carrying a loaded firearm,
  • and one count of armed assault with intent to rob.

Ivery is additionally charged with being a Level III armed career criminal and unlawful possession of a firearm as a subsequent offense as a result of three separate drug distribution convictions and a 2003 federal conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition.  According to prosecutors, he was released from his 180-month federal prison sentence in January 2016.  He has remained in custody since his April arraignment on a Suffolk Superior Court case charging firearm offenses; that case charges possession of a semi-automatic pistol recovered in his home during the execution of a search warrant in connection with the robbery investigation. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 14, 2017—A Revere man remains held without bail following his arraignment on an indictment charging him with first-degree murder in the homicide of his wife, 30-year-old Vanessa MacCormack, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANDREW MacCORMACK (D.O.B. 3/2/88) is accused of killing Vanessa MacCormack in their Grand View Avenue home on Sept. 23. He was arrested by Revere Police and State Police homicide detectives assigned to Conley’s office three days later and arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Sept. 27. The Oct. 31 indictment moves his case to Suffolk Superior Court, where his trial was scheduled for Nov. 5, 2018. more »

BOSTON, November 9, 2017— A Milton man was arraigned today on charges he stole a $14,000 flute from a building at Boston University, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

NATHANIEL OLIVER (D.O.B. 11/22/48), who is currently of Milton but resided in Mattapan at the time of the theft, today appeared on a summons for arraignment in Brighton Municipal Court on two counts of larceny over $250 and one count of trespassing.  After Oliver walked into court, Judge Myoung Joun released him on his own recognizance. more »

BOSTON, November 9, 2017— An annual domestic violence awareness fundraiser organized by members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office last week raised just over $4,000 – the largest amount in the event’s four-year history – in support of the city’s largest provider of services to domestic violence survivors, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The fourth annual fundraiser for Casa Myrna Vasquez, organized by Deputy Chief of Staff Catherine Rodriguez and Chief of Victim Witness Assistance Program Katherine Moran with the help of colleagues in Conley’s office, brought in $4,001, surpassing the event’s fundraising goal and nearly doubling last year’s total.  Bell in Hand Tavern once again this year provided their private event space for the fundraiser, which about 150 people attended.  The Friday evening event was bolstered by a raffle that included gift cards and other items donated by nearly 40 companies. more »

BOSTON, November 7, 2017— A Boston man arraigned yesterday for allegedly stabbing another man more than a dozen times at a cash machine was ordered held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

LONNIE FITTS (D.O.B. 7/4/70), who lists a Boston homeless shelter as his residence, was arraigned yesterday in Boston Municipal Court on a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.  At the request of Assistant District Attorney Nina Juitt, Judge James Stanton ordered Fitts held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing under Chapter 276, Section 58A, of the Massachusetts General Laws. The statute allows a judge to hold a defendant accused of certain offenses without bail for up to 120 days pending trial upon “clear and convincing evidence that no conditions of release will reasonably assure the safety of any other person or the community.”  That hearing will be held Monday. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 6, 2017—A man charged in the homicide of 32-year-old Dennis Parham was ordered held without bail at his arraignment in Roxbury Municipal Court today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

CHARLES WILLIAMS (D.O.B. 8/24/79) of Boston’s South End was arraigned on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm amid an ongoing grand jury investigation into Parham’s July 15 shooting death at the Lenox Street Housing Development. more »

BOSTON, November 3, 2017—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today invited non-profit organizations that work with kids and teens to apply for his cash awards program that provide the young people of Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop with constructive alternatives to crime and drug use.

The funds are disbursed from Conley’s Asset Forfeiture Community Reinvestment Grant Program. The program takes cash and assets seized in drug trafficking prosecutions and awards them to non-profit organizations that help Suffolk County’s young people avoid drugs, gangs, and other risky activity. more »

BOSTON, Nov. 2, 2017—The state’s highest court today upheld a Suffolk Superior Court jury’s murder verdict in the 2006 homicide of Yolande Danestoir by her son, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The 33-page unanimous decision affirms the conviction of NORTON CARTRIGHT for first-degree in his mother’s slaying inside the Reynolds Street home they once shared – where Cartright had continued to live in a crawlspace after being ordered to stay out of the residence. Evidence at trial established that Cartright beat her with a hammer, causing fatal injuries, after she found him inside the apartment. more »

BOSTON, Oct. 30, 2017—A man who allegedly harassed a female passenger on an MBTA bus and then flashed a handgun and assaulted the driver before fleeing through a Revere movie theater was arraigned on firearms and assault charges this week, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

HAKEEM RICKER (D.O.B. 7/29/97) of Lynn was arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threats to commit a crime for the incident Friday evening onboard a bus headed through Revere to Central Square in Lynn. more »
