A Suffolk Superior Court judge today scheduled an October retrial for the Mattapan man accused of a 2010 multiple shooting on Woolson Street, killing four – including a toddler – and leaving a fifth paralyzed from the shoulders down, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Judge Jeffrey Locke scheduled empanelment in the retrial of DWAYNE MOORE (D.O.B. 6/25/77) for October 11.  Moore faces four counts of first-degree murder for the shooting deaths of Eyanna Flonory, 21; her 2-year-old son, Amanihotep Smith; Simba Martin, 21; and Levaughn Washum-Garrison, 22. All four were killed in the early morning hours of Sept. 28, 2010. more »

A Lynn man charged with trespassing could face more charges for allegedly soliciting money with a phony City of Boston permit, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MBTA Transit Police on Monday evening arrested GREGORY HARRISON (D.O.B. 8/2/65), a.k.a. CRAIG HARRISON, after a plainclothes officer working at the TD Garden saw him allegedly soliciting money from passersby for an unknown organization he claimed to represent. The officer recognized Harrison as having been stopped in the past for similar incidents, gave him a verbal trespass warning, and ordered him to leave the area of North Station and the TD Garden. more »

UMass Boston Chancellor Keith Motley presented Assistant District Attorney Daniel Mulhern with the Robert H. Quinn Award for Outstanding Community Leadership, an honor named for the former attorney general, speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and chair of the UMass Board of Trustees. Two men were arraigned today in connection with the seizure of more than five kilograms of cocaine and a large quantity of cash that authorities believe are directly related to a major drug distribution operation in Chelsea, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

MANUEL A. CASTILLO (D.O.B. 1/11/77), who has residences in Chelsea and Revere, and FERNANDO MARCANO-GARCIA (D.O.B. 11/17/68) of Orlando, Florida, were arraigned today in Chelsea District Court on charges of trafficking in more than 200 grams of a Class B substance, conspiracy to violate the state’s drug laws, and violating the state’s drug laws in a school zone. more »

A Cape Cod man was held on high bail today at his arraignment on charges that he tried to kidnap one woman and forced his way into the home of another during a crime spree Friday night, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Dorchester man whose unsafe cycling this weekend caught Boston Police officers’ eyes was held on high bail at his arraignment today for the loaded, unregistered handgun they later found in his jacket, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

 DEANDRE ZOLLARCOFFER (D.O.B. 6/21/88) was arraigned in Dorchester District Court today on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. Because of prior assault, larceny, and robbery convictions, he was additionally charged as a Level I armed career criminal. more »

The man who pulled a knife and stabbed a Chelsea resident who refused his request for spare change will serve up to seven years in state prison, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

Assistant District Attorney Nick Walsh recommended that MANUEL ARZOLA (D.O.B. 9/25/68) of Everett serve six to eight years for his conviction on a count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon followed by three years of probation for his conviction on a count of assault and battery. Walsh recommended that Arzola be ordered to stay away from the victim, complete an anger management program, undergo an evaluation for drug dependence, take part in any treatment deemed necessary, and submit to random urine screens. more »

Authorities are renewing their call for caution along the Esplanade today after a report of a sexual assault early Friday morning.

State Police detectives assigned to Troop H and the Suffolk DA’s office responded to a local college Friday evening after a student reported to her campus police department that she had been assaulted at about 1:00 Friday morning in the area of the Silber Way footbridge. The student suffered no physical injuries during the incident and was able to flee on foot. more »

A Dorchester man will serve up to three decades in state prison for raping two young family friends over a period of years, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

At a sentencing hearing yesterday, Assistant District Attorney Leora Joseph, chief of Conley’s Child Protection Unit, recommended that KENNETH WARD (D.O.B. 3/6/68) serve 30 to 40 years behind bars. Suffolk Superior Court Judge Thomas Connolly sentenced him to a term of 25 to 30, to be followed by the 10 years of probation Joseph also recommended. more »

A Superior Court jury this afternoon rejected a Roxbury man’s self-defense claim and found him guilty of murder for the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old Senai Williams on Homestead Street, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Jurors convicted JAMES ALLEN (D.O.B. 8/30/88) of second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of ammunition for the Nov. 18, 2010 shooting of Senai Williams. Conley presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to each of the following organizations: Teen Empowerment, Children’s Services of Roxbury, Dorchester Youth Collaborative, and Codman Academy.

On March 1, Conley visited Teen Empowerment’s headquarters in Roxbury to spend time with the agency’s young members and staff. The funds provided by Conley’s office will be used to support a youth organizing initiative in the Warren Gardens neighborhood of Roxbury allowing the group to hold a peer-led series of anti-violence and substance abuse discussions. more »

After 15 years, two trials, and as many convictions by Suffolk County juries, James “Jimmy” Murphy’s killer finally admitted his guilt in court today, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

JOSEPH DOWNEY (D.O.B. 4/18/65), most recently of Quincy, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for stabbing Murphy to death in a South Boston tavern in 1997. He was sentenced to a term of 17 to 20 years in state prison. more »

The Dorchester man accused of stabbing 24-year-old Gregory Phillips to death was arrested when he “went back to retrieve his knife just after 2:15 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2009,” a Suffolk County homicide prosecutor said today during opening statements in the man’s murder trial.

COREY PATTERSON (D.O.B. 11/5/86) is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of assault and battery on a public employee for allegedly plunging a knife into Patterson’s chest near the intersection of Harvard and Brighton avenues after an altercation that began as a local nightclub was letting out for the evening. more »

The Suffolk County Grand Jury today returned indictments charging a man with witness intimidation and disrupting a court proceeding for shouting taunts at a prosecution witness, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DENNIS JONES (D.O.B. 1/5/67) was held on $20,000 cash bail at his district court arraignment on identical charges a week ago today. The indictments move his case to Suffolk Superior Court, where he will be arraigned at a later date. Witness intimidation is a felony that carries up to 10 years in state prison; disrupting a court proceeding carries up to a year in a house of correction, a fine of up to $1,000, or both. more »

A Suffolk County homicide prosecutor recounted an alleged murderer’s post-shooting bravado today as a Roxbury man went to trial for the homicide of 28-year-old Senai Jamaal Williams.

“What does a man say after he kills another man?” Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Hickman asked jurors rhetorically this morning. “If you’re JAMES ALLEN, you’ll say words to the effect of, ‘don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.’ Those are the words you will hear Mr. Allen said after shooting and killing Senai Williams.” more »
