BOSTON, Feb. 27, 2015—The second defendant charged in the shooting death of 21-year-old Kenny Lamour was ordered held without bail at his arraignment today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

DONTE HENLEY (D.O.B. 5/18/90) of South Boston was arraigned in West Roxbury Municipal Court on a murder charge stemming from the Feb. 11 homicide. As the request of Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum, Judge David Breen ordered Henley held without bail. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 26, 2015—Anthony Spaulding, stabbed to death outside his Allston home by a man who showed up uninvited to a New Year’s Eve party, was recalled as “selfless, loving, and brilliant” as his killer was sentenced to prison today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

BRIAN MacDONALD (D.O.B. 4/7/88) of Brighton was convicted Feb. 20 of voluntary manslaughter for stabbing Spaulding, then 22, in the chest outside Spaulding’s Pratt Street home. Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins of the DA’s Homicide Unit recommended the maximum penalty for that offense, a term of 15 to 20 years in state prison, citing “the vicious, violent, senseless actions of the defendant” and the fact that Spaulding was unarmed when he sustained multiple stab wounds to the heart, liver, and back that went as deep as seven inches. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 25, 2015— A high school student from Belmont was arraigned yesterday after his weekend arrest on firearm charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

KENNETH MADDEN (D.O.B. 6/26/96) was arraigned in Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and trespassing.  Assistant District Attorney Caitlin Fitzgerald requested that bail be set in the amount of $25,000 and that Madden be ordered to wear a GPS, abide by a curfew, and stay away from Roxbury in the event he is released on bail.  Judge David Weingarten set bail at $7,500 and imposed all of the requested conditions of release. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 24, 2015—The state’s highest court today reinstated the conviction of a man convicted of PCP possession after a lower court overturned the conviction, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

In a decision published today, the Supreme Judicial Court reinstated the conviction of TIM CULLITY (D.O.B. 12/18/55) of Chelsea for possession of a Class B substance. After a Nov. 16, 2011, jury-waived trial, a Chelsea District Court judge found Cullity guilty of possessing the powerful hallucinogen and sentenced him to a six-month jail term, suspended for a probationary period of one year.  more »

BOSTON, Feb. 24, 2015—A Roxbury man was arraigned on gun charges yesterday after he drew the attention of Boston Police by speeding past and honking at pedestrians walking in the street, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

TARIQ RUSSELL (D.O.B. 12/2/1978) was arraigned in Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and carrying a loaded firearm. Because of convictions for firearm possession in 1999 and drug distribution in 2009, he was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm as a second offense and being a Level I armed career criminal.  He was civilly cited by Boston Police for speeding, creating a harsh or objectionable noise, and possessing less than an ounce of marijuana. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 23, 2015—The man accused of shooting 22-year-old Ahmir Lee to death in the Back Bay was ordered held without bail pending trial, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

MICHAEL JORDAN (D.O.B. 6/21/87) of Roxbury was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court this afternoon on indictments charging him with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for the 2013 homicide. Jordan was indicted Friday after a protracted investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives and Suffolk prosecutors in the grand jury. Jordan was arrested Saturday. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 23, 2015—The Massachusetts Appeals Court today affirmed an earlier order denying a new trial for the man who murdered off-duty firefighter Danclar Mead 20 years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

The order marks the third time that KAREEN BROWN has been denied a new trial since his conviction for stabbing Mead, who mentored young men in his neighborhood, to death outside a Dorchester fast food restaurant on March 15, 1994. He is currently serving a life sentence. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 21, 2015–A long-term investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives and Suffolk prosecutors has led to the indictment and arrest of a Roxbury man for the fatal shooting of Ahmir Lee, 22, in 2013, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans said today.

The Suffolk County Grand Jury yesterday returned indictments charging MICHAEL JORDAN (D.O.B. 6/21/87) with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for the Aug. 22, 2013, homicide in Copley Square. Those indictments triggered an arrest warrant that Boston Police executed this morning.  Jordan is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on Monday. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 20, 2015—A Brighton man was convicted today of stabbing Anthony Spaulding, 21, to death after a fight at a New Year’s Eve party at the victim’s Allston home, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Jurors found BRIAN MacDONALD (D.O.B. 4/7/88) guilty of voluntary manslaughter on the first full day of their deliberations. The verdict came after about two weeks of trial testimony. Suffolk Superior Court Judge Janet Sanders revoked his bail pending sentencing at 2:00 pm on Feb. 26. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 20, 2015—A repeat drunk driver has been indicted for manslaughter in the November crash on Enneking Parkway that killed his passenger, 41-year-old Lillian Grover, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Suffolk County grand jury today indicted JEFFREY MASON (D.O.B. 9/11/72) of Walpole for motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence as a fourth offense, and motor vehicle manslaughter by operating under the influence under Ch. 265, Sect. 13½, popularly known as Melanie’s Law. They move Mason’s case from West Roxbury Municipal Court to Suffolk Superior Court, where it will be adjudicated.  An arraignment date has not yet been set. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 18, 2015—The man who allegedly tried to rob a downtown electronics store last year – and may have succeeded in an earlier armed robbery at the same location – was identified after Boston Police criminalists recovered his unique genetic profile on a glove he left behind, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

DARREN PARKER (D.O.B. 5/28/68), who is homeless, was arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court on charges of attempted armed robbery and assault and battery in connection with the 2014 hold-up and struggle.  Assistant District Attorney Brett Walker requested bail of $2,000; Judge Thomas Kaplanes set bail at $1,000. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 18, 2015—A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted the two individuals charged in the homicide of 39-year-old Cherby LaJoie, who died after being stabbed 41 times, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

After four days of deliberations, a Suffolk Superior Court jury convicted ERNEST WATKINS IV (D.O.B. 1/14/98) of Dorchester of involuntary manslaughter and TARAYIAH “TIP” HUNT (D.O.B. 1/1/92) of Dorchester of second-degree murder in LaJoie’s Oct. 6, 2012 homicide.  Both had been indicted for first-degree murder. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 17, 2015— A Hyde Park man was arraigned last week on charges he wielded a Taser while attempting to rob a man who had arranged through Facebook to sell a third person a pair of sneakers, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MESHACH SICOT (D.O.B. 6/30/95) was arraigned in West Roxbury Municipal Court Wednesday on charges of armed assault with intent to rob and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the incident on Greenwood Street.  Assistant District Attorney Christopher Aiello requested bail of $5,000 and that Sicot’s bail be revoked in an open case out of the same court charging uttering, counterfeiting, and larceny.  Judge Paul McManus imposed $1,000 bail and ordered Sicot to wear a GPS monitor, abide by a curfew, and stay away and have no contact with the victim in the event he is released on bail.  He declined to revoke Sicot’s open bail. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 17, 2015—A Quincy man was arraigned last week in connection with a Jamaica Plain armed robbery and faces additional charges in a similar hold-up at a nearby convenience store, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

HEATH CARSON (D.O.B. 7/29/79) was arraigned Feb. 11 in West Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with a Jan. 22 hold-up of the Tostado Sandwich Bar on Centre Street.  Assistant District Attorney Christopher Aiello requested bail of $75,000; Judge Paul McManus imposed $10,000 bail and ordered that Carson be transported to Cambridge District Court, where he was wanted on warrants. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 13, 2015—The man who shot 22-year-old Northeastern University student Rebecca Payne to death admitted his guilt today, ending a seven-year saga that began with no leads and nearly ended without resolution when a critical witness died unexpectedly, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

CORNELL SMITH (D.O.B. 12/19/81), formerly of Boston but now serving an unrelated federal sentence for drug distribution, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm for shooting Payne to death in her Mission Hill apartment in 2008. Smith was indicted for first-degree murder, but the case suffered a major setback when the critical witness died last May prior to trial. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 13, 2015— As the man who gunned down 18-year-old Terrence Kelley was sentenced to life in prison, the slain man’s mother recounted her joy at his birth and the “devastation” she felt upon his death, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Linda Giles today imposed a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for DARIUS GIBSON (D.O.B. 8/16/90), convicted last week of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and witness intimidation for fatally shooting Kelley in Grove Hall five years ago and then threatening the life of a person with information on the case. At the request of Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum, she additionally imposed a five- to seven-year term on the witness intimidation charge, to begin only after he completes a prison sentence on an unrelated triple shooting in Brockton. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 13, 2015—The state’s highest court this week denied a new trial for two men convicted of murder four decades ago, while an appeals court upheld the conviction of a man who killed an infant.

In a Feb. 11 decision authored by Judge Geraldine Hines, the Supreme Judicial Court affirmed a lower court judge’s decision denying a new trial for ENFRID BROWN and WILLIAM JOHNSON (A.K.A. ABDULLAH K. SABREE), who were convicted of first-degree murder for the May 1, 1973, murder of Hakim Jamal, then the international president of the Malcolm X Foundation, inside his apartment. more »

IGOR PEULIC (D.O.B. 1/30/83) was arraigned from his hospital bed yesterday afternoon on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and assault with a dangerous weapon.  At the request of Assistant District Attorney Philip Cheng, Chelsea District Court Judge Matthew Nestor set bail at $25,000. more »

PETER CASTILLO (D.O.B. 8/6/88) was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on a charge of first-degree murder in Perez’s April 28, 2012, killing. At the request of ADA David Fredette of the DA’s Homicide Unit, Clerk Magistrate Gary Wilson ordered Castillo held without bail. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 4, 2015—A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted a repeat gun offender in the 2010 murder of 18-year-old Terrence Kelley, Jr., in Grove Hall, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Jurors convicted DARIUS GIBSON (D.O.B. 8/16/90) of first-degree murder under the theories of deliberate premeditation and extreme atrocity or cruelty for chasing Kelley down Creston Street and shooting him on the afternoon of May 28, 2010. Jurors also convicted Gibson of unlawful possession of the .25 caliber semiautomatic handgun used in the shooting, and witness intimidation for threatening a person with information on the case. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 2, 2015—Boston Police homicide investigators and detectives assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office are in New York City this morning to take custody of the man who allegedly fled a murder charge in the shooting death of Stephen Perez, Jr., District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Authorities plan to return PETER CASTILLO (D.O.B. 8/6/88) of Salem to Massachusetts later today and arraign him in Suffolk Superior Court tomorrow on indictments charging first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. Castillo is currently held in New York as a fugitive from justice after the US Marshals Service returned him to the United States from the Dominican Republic last month. more »

BOSTON, Feb. 1, 2015—A man shot by Chelsea Police after allegedly opening fire on an occupied vehicle near Bellingham Square is in custody at Massachusetts General Hospital and expected to survive.

The Suffolk DA’s office is investigating the incident, which took place at about 12:30 this morning. The preliminary evidence from witness statements, surveillance footage, and other sources indicates that the gunman, IGOR PEULIC (D.O.B. 1/30/83) of Chelsea, fired several shots at an occupied vehicle outside the Chelsea Walk Pub. No one was struck by those shots. more »
