REGINALD PRICE (D.O.B. 2/18/96) of Jamaica Plain and NICHOLAS BOOTMAN (D.O.B. 8/22/96) of Dorchester were arraigned in West Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over age 60, assault and battery on a person over age 60 causing serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. Assistant District Attorney Lauren Greene requested that each defendant be held on $75,000 bail and that Bootman’s bail on an open case out of Boston Juvenile Court be revoked. Judge Mary Ann Driscoll set $50,000 bail for Price and $25,000 for Bootman and granted Greene’s request to revoke Bootman’s open bail. BOSTON, Jan. 28, 2014—Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Massachusetts State Police Colonel Timothy Alben today asked for the public’s help identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision this weekend that left a Boston man in critical condition.
The victim, a 63-year-old Dorchester resident, was entering his car in the area of 890 Morton St. at about 10:20 on Saturday night when he was struck by another vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. That vehicle is believed to be a four-door sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, and possibly brown or silver in color. The vehicle may have body damage on its right front end. more »

BOSTON, Jan. 23, 2015—A 65-year-old serial rapist will likely spend the rest of his life in prison after he was sentenced yesterday as a repeat sexual offender, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.
WESTLEY CAIN (D.O.B. 5/30/49) of Dorchester was found guilty on Dec. 22 of two counts of rape after a trial before a Suffolk Superior Court jury. Because Cain previously served lengthy state prison sentences for convictions for raping four women and other violent offenses, Suffolk prosecutors sought a second trial in order to secure enhanced sentences for rape as a subsequent offense and as a habitual offender. That trial was held on Dec. 20, and Judge Charles Hely found him guilty on both counts.
BOSTON, Jan. 23, 2015—Revere Police detectives and State Police assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office are actively investigating the fatal shooting of a young man on Garfield Avenue.
Revere Police responded to an outdoor scene on Garfield Avenue shortly after 2:00 this morning to find the victim, tentatively identified as an 18-year-old Chelsea resident, inside a vehicle suffering from fatal injuries. more »
BOSTON, Jan. 22, 2015— A Fall River man will serve up to two decades in prison after a jury convicted him in a non-fatal shooting outside a West End night club, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
A Suffolk Superior Court jury deliberated for less than three hours before finding RUBEN PINA (D.O.B. 11/11/83) guilty of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and unlawful possession of ammunition in connection with a non-fatal shooting in the early morning hours of Dec. 2, 2012. Judge Christopher Muse today sentenced Pina to 15 to 20 years in state prison followed by eight years of probation. more »
BOSTON, Jan. 21, 2015—A 16-year-old robbery suspect identified in part through MBTA public safety cameras is being held on more than $2 million cash bail after his arraignment as a juvenile on two additional criminal complaints, including one that alleges sexual assault, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
The juvenile, whose most recent address is in Lancaster but who has ties to Dorchester, was arraigned on two separate complaints yesterday in the Juvenile Session of Dorchester Municipal Court. On a complaint charging delinquency, to wit: armed robbery for a Jan. 11 incident, he was held on $25,000 cash bail. On a second complaint charging delinquency, to wit: kidnapping, assault with intent to rape, assault with intent to murder, and indecent assault and battery for a Jan. 13 incident, he was held on $1 million cash bail.
Those arraignments followed Jan. 14 proceedings in the Suffolk County Juvenile Court, where he was charged in two additional Jan. 13 incidents and held on $500,000 cash bail on each of two separate complaints charging delinquency, to wit: kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, and attempted kidnapping. more »
BOSTON, Jan. 20, 2015—The state’s highest court today affirmed the first-degree murder conviction of the man who senselessly killed Surendra Dangol, a convenience store worker who offered no resistance during a 2009 armed robbery, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
In a decision authored by Justice Margot Botsford, the Supreme Judicial Court today affirmed the 2011 conviction of EDWARD CORLISS (D.O.B. 2/7/46) for the fatal shooting of Dangol, a Jamaica Plain convenience store clerk who had just complied with Corliss’ demands for cash from the store’s register. more »

BOSTON, Jan. 16, 2015—A sex offender previously convicted of manslaughter faces potential lifetime commitment at a secure facility after a jury today found him to be sexually dangerous, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
After a three-day trial and about an hour of deliberations, a Suffolk Superior Court jury today found MANUEL ENCARNACION (D.O.B. 10/9/71) of Roslindale sexually dangerous person under Ch. 123A of the Massachusetts General Laws. Judge Raffi Yessayan civilly committed Encarnacion to the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater for a period of one day to life. The commitment comes at the conclusion of Encarnacion’s state prison sentence for a conviction in Suffolk Superior Court for indecent assault of a child under 14 and assault and battery. more »

BOSTON, Jan. 13, 2015— A Dorchester teen was arraigned yesterday for allegedly stabbing another teen during a fight last week outside the Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
The 16-year-old male was arraigned in the juvenile session of Dorchester Municipal Court on a charge of delinquency to wit: assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Hawkins requested bail of $5,000 and that the juvenile stay away and have no contact with the victim, abide by a 6:00 p.m. curfew, and submit to GPS monitoring – already a condition of his open bail on other criminal cases. Hawkins requested that bail be revoked in those open cases, in which the juvenile is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, larceny, and other offenses. BOSTON, Jan. 12, 2015— A Dorchester man subdued by Boston Police after arming himself with a knife, assaulting family members, and making threats to kill himself and others has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
THOMAS HARRINGTON (D.O.B. 4/6/82) was arraigned in Dorchester District Court today on charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, making threats, and malicious destruction of property. TROY POINDEXTER (D.O.B. 2/8/78) today pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder, arson, breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Boston, Jan. 2, 2015— An Allston man today pleaded guilty to causing a motor vehicle crash that claimed the lives of 27-year-old Jessica Campbell and 28-year-old John Lanzillotti, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
MOHAMED ALFAGEEH (D.O.B. 8/15/84) pleaded guilty to two counts of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation during an appearance in Suffolk Superior Court this morning. Assistant District Attorney Gregory Henning had recommended that Alfageeh be sentenced to three years in the house of correction. Judge Carol Ball sentenced Alfageeh to one year in the house of correction followed by an additional two years in the house of correction with six months to serve and the remainder suspended for a probationary period of three years. Alfageeh will serve a total of 18 months in the house of correction and would face an additional 18 months of incarceration if he violates the conditions of his probation. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed as duplicative. more »
